As I mentioned in my last post I moved to California and the beginning of the month. We drove all the way from Minnesota with just a car full of stuff and either sold or stored the rest of our things. Since we did this we arrived here with exactly zero furniture. We have since been aquiring pieces (such as a bed and a couch) but have yet to get a table or a desk that is big enough to sew on. Our apartment is much smaller than our previous one so we are taking our time deciding what we want to get and were it should go and we don’t want to buy something we don’t like just so we can have something.
Since we aren’t in a hurry to get a large surface yet, my sewing has been minimal (although I did finish a quilt with my machine set on the floor which I will post about soon). Instead of being antsy I decided to start a hand project that I have always wanted to make. For years I have admired the EPP Star quilts I have seen all over the internet, so I grabbed some cardstock and glue and decided to give it a try.
I have always wanted to make one of my own but never had the proper motivation, but I figured now would be the perfect time to start. I am using this gorgeous stack of fabrics that I purchased in February on my anniversary at work before I moved as a starting point for the quilt.
I just love the soft colors and I am still working out how I am going to do the quilt, although once I have a bunch of the stars done my decision will probably be much easier. Should I use a background White or another color to surround the stars? Should I uses just the fabrics I have an keep the whole thing soft? Any other thoughts?
I’ll share some updates on the stars soon!
