Let me introduce you to my latest pattern called the Milky Way Medallion. Named for the center medallion star and the row of wonky stars near the edge, it contains the center medallion and 7 borders, 4 of which are pieced.
The pattern is quite long, 29 pages including templates and cover page, but inside you will find detailed directions and diagrams showing you how to piece this quilt border by border. It also contains directions for both a yardage version (shown here with the black and dark grey backgrounds) and a scrappy version (shown here with the lighter backgrounds).
In addition to the two versions I made I also had a few pattern testers and a proof reader, who were kind enough to try out my pattern and read over it for me. Below is Katie’s Quilt who blogs at Karma Willow Designs. I just love how different hers is from mine but still ended up so beautiful! Thanks Katie! I also want to say thanks to Susan at The Bored Zombie for reading it over and proofreading it for me!

I think I have a great stash of yellows and purples that would do this pattern justice! Your two are beautiful though.

Wow, the black really makes the colors on the first quilt pop! Love it. I'd use some varieties of red and pink scraps with cream mixed in.

A bold color for the background. Maybe a dark wine with grays, blacks and maybe some green. I love the citrus colors you used!

I'm not usually a medallion quilt kind of person but I think the way you used the variety of solids in the back (which is something I like to do) makes this quilt speak to me! Very nice pattern. 🙂 Hmmm…if I were to make it I would probably go for an autumnal range of colors because I'm so over this summer. 😛

It's a beautiful quilt, I think I would make it is pastels with a grey accent.
Theresa Henderson says
i love the original colors-lime, yellow orange and grey

Wow it is hard to choose a color scheme with so many lovely quilts displayed in different styles. I do like sort of jewel tone solids would be really cool. I think…mmmm not sure. I really love this.

Wowza! These three quilts (well including Katie's quilt top) are each just beautiful. I love the scrappy background idea. Congratulations on a gorgeous design, Elise! I would make a blue/green version with a grey scrappy background.

I think I'd go with teal, mustard, and maybe lime or magenta – or maybe both. It could change as it develops.
Lisa in Port Hope says
I've been wanting to do a quilt with coral and green…perhaps add some yellow and turquoise, with low volume prints for the background…

You're welcome! I know it is weird, but it really is one of my favorite tasks. Really, you *let* me do it! 🙂
I do love the pattern. It's very well written, easy to follow and has excellent graphics. I hope you sell 1000s, I'd love to see this quilt in all sorts of different combos!

I love the quilt with the black background. It looks great! As for me…if I were to make it I might try one in fall colors — dark brown, reds, oranges.

Elise, Congrats on getting your pattern done. I love the other version your tester did. I can't believe how different it looks. I am still plugging away at mine. I am working on the wonky star. I have had to take them apart a few times. Anyway, Loving the pattern.
