Remember that Ocean View layer cake I got for my birthday? (blogged about here) Well I finally decided to cut into that beautiful stack of fabric and start turning it into a quilt. I am actually using a pattern on this quilt. It is called The Cut Up and is by Pieced Tree Patterns.
The whole pattern is the size of an index card, and that includes everything – materials, cutting, and sewing directions. I like how simple this pattern is but it is quite beautiful when completed. I don’t usually work with layer cakes and I felt that this pattern would be a great way to really showcase all the different fabrics that come in one.
Sorry for the poor quality, when it is a cloudy day my apartment can be a bit dark. |
I am finished with all the blocks, but am considering making some extra blocks out of coordinating fabrics so I can have enough for two twin sized quilts. My in-laws (the ones who kindly gave me this fabric for my birthday) run a bed and breakfast in the Caribbean and I think that these would work beautifully in one of their guest rooms.

A B & B in the Caribbean – sounds delightful and these colours would look wonderful. Looking forward to seeing how it finishes up.
