I recently acquired some low volume and black and white prints as well as a few Konas for a new project I am starting. I am trying my hand at some freezer paper applique and these lighter fabrics will be used for the background while the Kona will be mixed in with some other solids and almost solids to create the appliques. The fabrics above I got at a discount designer fabric store where all fabrics are a minimum 50% off sometimes more, the store specializes in apparel fabric (which is one of the reasons I went there and hope to share my make with you soon) but stocks a fair amount of older designer quilting cottons. I find that the starting prices are a little on the higher end of the spectrum, but with the 50% and the generous cuts (the above are 1/4 yards but measure over 10″ each) it works out to be a great deal.
The remaining fabrics pictured above I got at my local quilt shop, which I plan on mixing with the fabrics shown in the first photo as well as some from my stash. I want to make large low volume squares as a background for some flowers which will be made out of the solids. I believe the Konas pictured above are called pool and malibu. Thanks for reading!
