I have always admired the Kaffe Collective fabrics, but I never really knew what to do with them. They are so bright and bold but have such a distinctive style I find them hard to mix with other fabric collections. Well recently I started hording collecting some of the bright Kaffe fabrics in all different colors, and after much thinking and debating I have decided on a plan. I am doing a very simple patchwork quilt in a rainbow of Kaffe fabrics combined with Essex linen in Charcoal (which unfortunately did not photograph well and I may have already started cutting).

I have a stack of Kaffe fabrics as well, and am in the same dilemma as to what to do to showcase their beauty is the best possible way! So….I will be following your progress on your patchwork quilt….and will be using your work as my source of inspiration! Thanks for sharing this post!

Thanks Andrea! I have been working like crazy on this quilt so I hope to have it finished shortly and I have to say I am loving it (I may have another one in my future especially since I will have so much fabric left over). I would love to see what you do with yours!

Stopping by from Let’s Bee Social. I love your plan for your Kaffe fabrics. I’m also drawn to his fabrics, but unsure of how to best use them. The scale of many of his prints also complicates this for me. Looking forward to seeing what you make!

Thanks for stopping by Colleen! I was having trouble at first too and I kept looking online for ideas, but none of them were really appealing to me – epecially since the colors and prints are so wild and like you said the scale of the prints makes things difficult. I am almost done with the quilt and hope to share it soon!
Erin says
Ah, that is a delicious stack of fabric! I cannot wait to see what you do with it – I’ll be checking back in!
Elise Lea says
Thanks Erin, I look forward to your return! I should have more to share soon – weather permitting I can get some photos in this weekend.

What a gorgeous stack! A patchwork quilt with charcoal Essex linen is going to be the perfect pairing for these beauties!!
Elise Lea says
Thanks Preeti! I am using the dark grey and I wasn’t sure if i was going to like it (definitely was second guessing my choice after buying it) but I am loving it and am so glad i stuck to my instincts.

Lovely stack of fabric… looking forward to seeing just what you do with them! I love a scrappy quilt that mixes up fabrics that might not really go together, but still works somehow… so I’ve been experimenting a bit lately with my Kaffe stash!
Elise Lea says
Thanks Linda! I have seen so many quilts that use essex and liberty fabrics and that was my inspiration for this. I figured if it con work with all those little florals it will probably work with Kaffe.

Sounds like a good plan Elise!

Thanks Karen! I am loving this quilt so far and can’t wait to share more!

I have exactly the same problem with Kaffe fabrics. They are gorgeous and colorful…and I am never sure how I can use them. Will be great to see how your quilt turns out. Maybe it will give me some ideas!
Elise Lea says
Thanks Lori! I admired them for a long time before I actually got the courage to buy a bunch of them and now that I have been working with them in this quilt I want to make another one!

Two words: Kaffe and Linen – and my heart skipped a beat! Sounds like a plan! If you’re on Facebook check out the <a href = "https://www.facebook.com/groups/60352772359/?fref=ts"Kaffe Fassett Collective group – lots of colourful inspiration there 🙂

Hi Stephie! Thank you so much for your kind compliments. I am loving the look of the fabrics together and can’t wait to share more. I hope you come back and check out the final quilt. And thanks for the link, I don’t have a facebook but I managed to use someone else’s to check out the group – Some really beautiful quilts on there.

I really like how the fabrics look stacked according to color families. I always feel overwhelmed when I see Kaffe fabrics at my local quilt shop–maybe it’s because they are all mixed up there. With the way you’ve stacked them, I can see how they would work with each other. I’m looking forward to your project with them.
Elise Lea says
Thanks Janine! I totally know what you mean about the colors being overwhelming. The nice thing about Kaffe fabrics is that they color ways – even from different collections work pretty well together, you just have to do a little playing around.
