I finished my Reflected quilt top today and quickly ran outside to take pictures before the rain could come. Since it was just me taking pictures I had to get a little creative so I made use of some duct tape and our garage as well as a fallen tree a short trek into the woods.
The colors of this quilt all started with the darkest blue background and then added the remaining blues for the gradated background effect. I then moved on to the focal fabrics, picked contrasting colors that were to me, more boyish which meant leaving out the pinks, purples, and pastel colors.
The finished quilt measures right around 42″ x 54″. I wanted it to be a small lap/baby size quilt and I think this size captures that perfectly. I hope to find a backing for it tonight and have this version and my cotton candy version quilted up soon! I just need to decide on a thread color for quilting…

I love it! The colors are great and I love how the blues go from dark to light!

Thanks Amanda! I was trying to use what I had, and I am glad I did. I think it makes for a more interesting quilt.

This is beautiful, the colors are stunning, so pretty!
Elise Lea says
Thank you Judy! I was really drawn to that dark blue in the beginning and the colors just expanded from there.

Very pretty! I like the bright solids and you are so right about it looking like a boyish quilt–sometimes a difficult thing to do!

I know right? Seriously trying to figure out a back for this thing without it being too baby, or too girly, or too boring is hard lol.

This is a stunning quilt. Love the pattern and color choices.
Elise Lea says
Thanks Selina! It was nice to use solids for a change, I have not done that in awhile and it really makes you think about your design I think.

Wow – I love this! The changing shades of the blue background really capture the eye and add interest.
Elise Lea says
Thanks Karen! I was originally going to use those lighter blues as some of the blocks and do an all dark background, but I decided it would be more fun to use a range of blues. Only problem is I am having a little more difficulty explaining it in the pattern.

Thank you so much Maartje! I always enjoy picking out colors for a quilt, and this one really turned out well.
Cindy says
Lovely! I like how the colours flow.
Elise Lea says
Thanks Cindy! I think it definitely makes for a more interesting quilt than if I had done just one background color (especially since I was only using solids).
