Welcome to the new Lovelea Designs site! I am still working on the site, especially the shop, but I wanted to get it up and running so i can at least start posting again. It has been a process switch from blogger to a self-hosted wordpress site, but I am getting back into the swing of things and have quite a few projects to share! My latest WIP is another quilt using the same pattern as my Cotton Candy quilt I decided to name the quilt pattern reflected since Cotton Candy really only worked for the soft pastel version. I really wanted this version of the quilt to showcase the pattern itself more, and what better way to do that than use solids!
Since I recently acquired quite a few solids on my work anniversary I decided that I was going to make do with what I had. I grabbed 3 gradating blues for the background, and about 6 contrasting colors to go with and off I went. While cutting out the fabrics I realized that I wanted more of a variety of color on the front so I added a bright green and a bright red. I also replaced the light yellow with a light orange because I found the yellow to be not quite the right shade (it looks nice in the picture but stood out too much in person). I also realized that I wasn’t going to have enough blue for my background (and my local shop didn’t have 2 of the blues I needed) so i ended up picking up a fourth blue and a little more of the darkest blue to really give me the gradated look I was going for.
Hope to have this top done by Friday. Thanks for reading!

I have recently launched a website for my work and I know how it can take so much time and energy to sort out all the loose ends and get things up and running. This is looking a great colourful quilt. HSTs are so versatile!

A website is a lot of work isn’t it,? Luckily once it’s up and running it seems to only need some minor changes here and there as I get used to using it. I appreciate you sweet comments on my HST! They are always a fun block to work with.

I love the colors you have used, and how the pattern comes together. I can’t believe it is basically all half square triangles! This is going t make me rethink what to do with the half square triangles I have sitting on my kitchen counter right now!

Thanks Lori! The fabrics are much brighter than the design wall picture shows (but I was excited to share something on my new site). I plan on making this into a pattern – it is so simple and fairly quick to make.

Love the colors you’ve chosen. What a lively quilt.

Thanks Mary! The photo on the design wall doesn’t do the colors justice. They are much more vibrant in person

Your new site looks great Elise, a nice clean presentation. Your use of solids will really make the pattern stand out – hope the rest of the quilt comes together well for you.

Thanks Karen! The website was more work than i expected but I am happy with the result so for. As for the quilt, it has been coming together smoothly. I hope to have the top finished today and get the pattern written this weekend.

I adore the colors; they look neon against the background – really fun quilt.

Thanks Carrie! I love the way the colors pop against the background too! If you see them on the bolt they don’t look nearly as bright, but those blues seem to set them off just right.
