Let me present to you the finished tribal hammerhead shark panel for my husband’s manly man quilt! The finished panel measures about 43″ x 63″. I want it to be the focal point of the design and with it being this large I think it should do the trick.
The shark itself was drawn up on paper and then imported to Photoshop to make changes and perfect the final design. From there it was transferred to illustrator and printed full scale in the size I wanted to make templates for all the pieces. The pattern pieces when then transferred onto heat and bond featherlight and the actual fabric pieces were cut. Once cut they were applied one at a time and stitched down by hand using a blanket stitch. Not bad for my first hand applique project if I do say so myself.
Since I have the center finished I need to add some borders so I chose the above fabrics to use on the rest of the quilt. I hope to have the first pieced border finished this week. The second border is still being decided on design wise.
